Doretta Tondi
Doretta Tondi sets the standard for quality for
many jewelry designers in Greece. This one-woman show has
held her own place in the Greek market for nearly nine years
and never fails to impress the most discriminating shopper.
She discovered her talent for jewelry design late in her
career after many years working as freelance textile designer
and television scriptwriter, for which she received first
prize in the international competition for television writing
awarded by the European Broadcasting Union.
Her decision to work in jewelry design was a spontaneous
one. She began exploring the trade only interested in making
pieces for her personal enjoyment, but her extraordinary
gift for producing exquisite handmade jewelry carried her
quickly into a full time career. Since her graduation from
the Mokume Institue in Thessoloniki, Dorettta Tondi
has earned prestigious awards from the design competition
of the Kosmima Jewelry Fair in Thessoloniki (1995) and pieces
of her collection were also selected by the Greek Ministry
of Culture to appear in a special exhibition titled "Greek
Jewelry, 6000 Years of Tradition."
Doretta's collections are fabricated mainly from 18-22-24-karat
gold. Occasionally adding subtle punctuations using black
pearls, lava, diamonds, precious stones, and using fabric
prints, her original works are always meticulously hand
crafted to their finish. The result is a clever line of
jewelry suited for a woman of character and confidence that
will not compete with, but rather compliment her cosmopolitan
style and worldly substance.
Today, you'll find Doretta Tondi's work shown in
fine galleries throughout Greece including on most major
islands. Her work is also available in London, New York,
Guatemala, and Hong Kong.
Meeting Doretta was a privilege, as I am a big fan of her
work. She was casual, welcoming, and willing to share her
techniques. She remains modest, but inspired. It was clear
to see that there is much more incredible work to come from
this designer. I am certain you will find her jewelry as
attractive and intriguing as many others and I have. To
contact Doretta Tondi for orders or appointment,
you can reach her by telephone or email. To locate her work
