"Pokalí"

To Demetris Genopoulos, "Pokalí" a name that represents
the essence of this company in many ways. It tells the story
of his passion and dedication to his work. His training
began in Yiannena, 1984 where he became an assistant at
a reputable jewelry business owned by the Kariofyllis family.
After years of practice and experience as a silver and goldsmith,
Demetris mastered the intricacies and precision of traditional
Greek jewelry design. With this as a solid foundation, an
expertise that is rarely found in contemporary jewelry designers
today, Demetris moved to Athens and began exploring new
techniques. As he was testing designs using colors and enamel,
Demetris saw his daughter, Sotiria, only four years old,
was also experiencing the similar challenges. In Greek,
"Portokáli" is the word for orange, but
his little Sotiria could only manage to pronounce the long
word as "Pokalí". Together, like two committed students,
they practiced to get their colors and coordination right.
Eventually, the two mastered their lessons and Demetris
introduced his own company with contemporary jewelry designs.
He decided to call it "Pokalí". To him it was symbolic
of the hard work, love, and originality he shares with us
in his creations.
Now, with the freedom to leave his traditional measurements
behind, Demetris has developed an ever-changing line of
fun, abstract jewelry using silver, gold, enamel, tropical
wood, cloth, and fur. From simple silver earrings with swinging
butterflies to exotic broaches of wood and metal, "Pokalí"
offers a range of unique styles and prices for their customers.
