Perikles
This shop takes up three units side by side on Adrianou
Street and could probably take up 3 more with all the items
they have inside. The first thing you'll notice form the
outside is the beautiful glass pouring out of the store.
From the ceilings are hanging glass votive lamps and fairy
tale dolls in all sizes. Once you pass through the doors,
you'll find just about everything in side, and, yes, everything
is made in Greece!
Perikles has an extraordinary collection of silver and
gold jewelry that is far from the run of the mill selection.
Along side the jewelry are beautifully designed letter openers,
lighters, boxes, and cigarette holders in sterling silver
that I haven't seen in any other shops in the area. Valuable
miniature statues of famous Greek warriors and events sit
in the center of the shop, each one meticulously detailed
and expressive. Perikles also offers full sets of ceramic
dishes and decorative pieces in an assortment of colors,
from the pale blue island designs to the okra colored, more
traditional village style. My favorite things at Perikles
are the elaborate masks! They are absolutely glorious! I
have not seen such beautiful masks anywhere else in Greece!
I must have one!
Last but not least, you'll find an enormous (the biggest
in Plaka) of glass by the top contemporary Greek producers,
like, Erateini and Yalogenia.
The glass alone is worth the stop in this eclectic shop.
From ceiling lamps to table ware, you are not going to believe
the variety of artistic glass you will find here!
Perikles is family owned, friendly, and packed with so
much to see! Take your time, the longer you stay, the more
you discover!
